About Us
Founded in 2010, the South African Kyudo Renmei is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting the art of Japanese Archery, Kyudo in Johannesburg, South Africa.
We are members of the South African Kyudo Federation (ASAKF) and through them are internationally affiliated with the International Kyudo Federation (IKYF) as well as the All Nippon Kyudo Federation (ANKF)
There is currently only one formally Federated Kyudojo in the South Africa
Our Head Instructor
Jade Fraundorfer
Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa Jade began practicing Kyūdō in 2007 and went on to establish two Kyūdō schools — one in Johannesburg and another in Cape Town.
In 2013, he founded the South African Kyūdō Federation, which gained international recognition in 2018.
With over 19 years of experience in teaching and training Kyūdō, Jade currently holds the rank of 5th Dan . He is also a certified Level 2 Archery Instructor with USA Archery.
After immigrating to the United States in 2019, Jade was encouraged by senior leadership of the American Kyūdō Renmei (AKR) to establish a Kyūdō school in South Florida. This led to the founding of the South Florida Kyūdō Kai in 2020.
In 2024, with the support of the AKR, Jade founded the Kyūdō Renmei of Florida (KRF), where he serves as President. He was also elected to the Board of Directors of the American Kyūdō Renmei, where he currently serves as Vice President.
Jade’s passion lies in teaching and developing Kyūdō organizations, drawing on his extensive hands-on experience. He is internationally recognized for his dedication and leadership in promoting the art of Kyūdō worldwide.
Our Instructor
Biljana Vucetic
Biljana Vucetic is the Kyudojo Instructor and Dojo Head. She has been practicing Kyudo since 2011 and currently holds the rank of San-dan.
Biljana assumed the role of instructor in 2019, following Jade Fraundorfer’s emigration to the United States. Since then, she has led the Kyudojo with dedication and consistency, ensuring the continued practice of Kyudo in accordance with its traditions, etiquette, and spirit.
Her steady leadership and commitment to training have supported the growth and continuity of the dojo, providing students with a strong foundation in both technical practice and reishiki.
Although based in different countries, Jade Fraundorfer and Biljana Vucetic continue to work closely together, supporting one another and collaborating as a strong team in the ongoing growth and development of Kyudo in South Africa.
